Do you have what it takes to be an e-entrepreneur?

These days, it seems like everyone wants to work
from home and make money on the Internet. But
before you even turn on your computer, the first
question you have to ask yourself is whether
you’re cut out for this kind of work.

The fact is, building a home-based business isn’t
for everyone. Some people like the commute. They
really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what
to do, and they like the routine of working
nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can
barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think
they’re nuts.

More reasonably, there are people who are
concerned about the risk of starting up their own
business. They’re not sure it’s worth the
investment of time and money, and they’re scared
of the responsibility that comes with running
their own company. They wonder if there is
another way to escape the rat race.

I’m sure there is. You could win the lottery or
wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you
her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen
and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next
Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right?

For me, what happened was creating a successful,
self-running Internet marketing system. It didn’t
happen without effort. It didn’t happen without
at least some initial investment of both time and
money and, of course, it doesn’t happen now
without me making sure that the taxes are filed
and the paperwork is done. But it happened.

I’m my own boss. I work from home according to my
own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my
business makes. If you’re prepared to give an
e-business the time, the work and the money it
needs to get started and get growing, it can
happen for you too.

Home Business : How To Get Started Even If You Have Limited Capital

According to experts, one of the easiest ways to start your own home business is to use whatever skills you have and whatever resources at your disposal. Yeah, such advice does not really sound appealing at first to most of us who wants to make some drastic changes in our lives. However, if we really take a closer look into it, such advice is actually very practical and workable. Employing whatever skills you have at present means you do not need to spend a lot of time, money and efforts to learn new things. On the other hand, using whatever resources you have can help you get started with your home business even if you have limited financial resources.

Putting Your Skills Into Proper Use
Before you start your own home business, you need to make an inventory of your present skills. Know your strengths and your weaknesses. If you are still employed at present but is planning to quit your job as soon as your home business is up and running, you might want to consider using the skills that you have learned at work for your own home business. Note that doing similar things in and outside of the office will make it easier for you to adjust to your role as a business person. Yeah, doing the same things at the workplace and at home can be quite a drag but if you really want to succeed in your own home business, you must find the softest entry point into a certain industry. In most cases, the softest entry point to certain industries is through the use of the skills you learned at the workplace and the use of the contacts that you established while you are still working for your boss. However, since you are still employed, take care not to steal business from your boss or else you will end up without a job and without a stable home business. Note that your boss will not take it kindly if he or she knows that you are stealing his or her clients right under his or her nose so be careful.

When Should You Quite Your Job?
Quitting your job is a big decision to make especially if you have a family to think about. Before you quit your job, make sure that your home business is already stable. Stable here means that you have enough money to run your business for the next six months. If you still do not have enough money to run your business for the next six months, for get about quitting your job. You don’t really want your family to end up getting hungry.
On the other hand, if you really want to quit your job to concentrate on your home business even before you have enough money to keep your family well provided for in the next six months, you should discuss your plans thoroughly with your spouse and enlist his or her support. If both you and your spouse have jobs, ask your spouse to continue working on his or her job while you try to make your home business make money.

Standing Out in The Online Realm

It has always been a challenge to make your business stand out from the rest of the competition. On the internet, this challenge is ten fold. The competition is fiercer and it can be very difficult without the touch of personal service to make your business stand out amongst the others. In order to do so, you’ll need to add that little bit extra that will separated you from the rest of the crowd. The cream rises to the top, so here are some ideas to make your online business the creamiest of them all.

One thing that a lot of startup online businesses skimp on is the packaging of their products. Yes, it’s fine to send out your products in a plain old boring brown box from UPS or the Post Office, but it won’t make you stand out in any way. At the worst, it will make you stand out in the opposite way you want. Better to design your own packaging and send your products out in something that has your company name emblazoned on the side. If you want to take the time to design something that looks a little colorful, or fun, that might even be better (although whether or not this is appropriate will be determined by the type of business you run). The Post Office will actually create custom packaging for you if you purchase enough of their shipping services to qualify.

One thing your website should have is some general information and education on the product that you sell. Say for instance you are selling tennis rackets. There should be plenty of information of your website about tennis is general and tennis rackets in particular. There are two reasons for this. One, it’s good to have some sections of the website that are not dedicated to the hard sell. This leads a customer to feel secure, as if the website is there for more than the express intent of taking their money. Another good reason to have this information is to attract visitors that weren’t necessarily looking to buy a tennis racket in the first place. Maybe they were searching for information about tennis. But once you have them at your site, perhaps they will buy something.

A message board is another great way to create a community and have repeat visitors. Don’t think you have a product that would attract a lot of people to sit around and talk about it? That’s okay. Again, think of the example above. A message board solely dedicated to tennis rackets wouldn’t likely entice too many web surfers. But a message board about tennis is another story. And it doesn’t even have to be just about tennis. There could be other sports, a section for general talk, you name it.
Follow these three guides to bring your website up and into the light. It can be difficult to make a dent in the crowded online market, but it’s not impossible.
